We Met at Froghead Restaurant in Clinton, MS and spent a good 3 hours just talking and getting to know each other. If you are interested in Geocaching and meeting others that do it. This is a good way to do it.

Wow, we worked and worked. Not that we were obsessed, but we finally made it. The cache we did it on was Big Oak and the funny thing is that just as we drove up the bottom fell out. We did not stop, we forged on, pulled out our umbrellas and went looking. This one didn’t take more than 30 seconds to find. The trick was just not to get to wet. I would like to take this moment to thank woodduck870 for the cache that became our 100 find and all of the friends that continued to tell us we were crazy doing what we were doing. HE HE. I would also like to thank Kenneth McDade he showed Stacy and I what Geocaching is about. I guess 250 is the next goal.

Yesterday we hit two caches really quick, I thought we were on a role and were going to make it. Within 15 minutes of leaving the house we had two. Then we hit the third one. Wow, great hide, hard to find. It was called Bobbing For Cache and it took us about 1hr to find it. We did, but it took way to long and the next two were no different. The very next one we found oursleves deep in the woods about 300 feet from the cache with thick bushes and trees and a swamp in between. That was after having walked 30 minutes to get there. Let’s just say we gave up on that one and went for another.

All together we ended up getting 9 caches yesterday, and the coolest by far was the last.

ZZZ’s Meridian in the Dark is probably one of the coolest I have done. No, it is the coolest one Stacy or I have done. This one we went to during the day even though they said it should be done at night. We couldn’t find it. We followed the coordinates and looked for the clues we needed with no results. So we went back last night.

about 9pm we pulled up at the entrance to the trail that we had visited earlier that day. The idea is that you walk to the entrance of the trail and with a flash light you see what you are supposed to do. Well, with out being able to do it during the day we thought this was going to be a short try, we didn’t think it would work. So we walked to the beginning of the trail, shown the flash light in, and all the suddent it was like little beams of red light popping out of the trees creating a trail that we didn’t not see during the day. As we walked the trail of beams it took us off on a side trail that led us up a hill. At the top of the hill there was on tree that the lights formed a diamond on which lead us to walk off the trail deep into the woods. As we turned to head in the flashlight illuminated yet another series of lights that lead us to a big blue smiley face in the center of a big tree, and that is where we found the cache. It was really cool. Now just as we made it there it began to rain, we grabbed the cache signed the log and turned around to head out, but we couldn’t tell were we came from. As we turned trying to figure out the direction we had came from the flash light caught a tree that had an arrow on it showing us the way back to the trail (good thinking on their part).

I am definitely going to create a cache like this one at home.

Well, we are fixing to head out again, only 12 more to go.

Well, it is about 12:30am now and I have spent the last 45 minutes specing out tomorrows run. I have mapped about 15 different caches that I think I can hit before lunch and have loaded another 20 or so into the GPS for when I have finished that. All the facts and information needed have been saved on my iPhone using the Geocaching.com software for iPhone and My camera is at the ready.

Oh, that sounds really geeky I know, but it is actually fun. I think the one that I am excited about is the “Lost Gap Travel Bug Inn“. This one looks to have about 8 different travel bugs and geocoins in it. I want to see this one because I am planning on setting up a TB Hotel near the church in the next week or so.

Heading to bed now, we shall see what happens.

RECENT GEOCOIN PURCHASE:

Monday we headed out to My in-laws for Christmas. We should be there for most of the week. Just before heading out Stacy’s father called and said he wanted to help us break 100 Cache finds.

For those of you who don’t know, Stacy and I have found something new to kill time. Actually it is kind of nice to finally find that something that combines my love of technology, Stacy’s love of research and gets Stacy and I out of the house to do something together that does not entail work. This hobby is called Geocaching (read up)

Anyway, this morning we woke up about 8 and started out on our first sortie. First I had to run to Wal-mart and grab a charger for my iPhone. Needed the application on it for help. Thenwe ran to the first cache called “Where is Your Pilot“. This one was a nice 300 yard walk from the parking lot to the cache. The walk would not be that bad if it wasn’t for the Thorns and Hight grass we had to wade through in the freezing cold weather. I was a fun find though. Stacy’s dad actually found this one.

I won’t bore you with the details of all of them but all together from 8 in the morning to about 12:30 we finished 11 Caches. Thats Pretty good for us. Maybe tomorrow we can kick it up a notch.

Here is a cool site we found at an earth cache called “Who lost their Marbles?” It was a really cool geological thing I have never seen before.

Whose Lost Their Marbles?
